The first of two Alaska Class ferries is nearing completion at the shipyard in Ketchikan, Alaska. The official M/V Tazlina christening is planned for Sat., August 11 at the Vigor shipyard in Ketchikan. Tazlina, is an Ahtna Athabaskan name meaning "swift river," suggesting the ferry will be swift and agile. The state has not announced when the ferry will begin service.
