Judd, Jenny wed

Petersburg residents Tammy Judd and Douglas Jenny were wed March 24, 2012, at Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department Station 1 in Petersburg, Alaska.

Tammy is the daughter of Dixie Myrberg, of Anchorage, and the late Donald D. Judd.

Doug was born in Sitka to the late Alma and Harold Jenny.

Reverend Robert Carter, a member of PVFD Search and Rescue and Pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiated at the ceremony. Doug’s childhood friend Steve Craddick of Fairbanks was best man and Tammy’s daughter, Krista, was maid of honor. Her eldest son Steven walked her down the aisle. Her son Casey, daughter-in-law Julie, and Doug’s daughter Lilly were the wedding photographers.

The ceremony took place in the equipment bay at PVFD Station 1. Doug took Tammy for a “noise parade” in Engine 6 immediately after the ceremony. The reception took place in the day room of Station 1. Numerous members of the PVFD made the decorations and arranged flowers for the couple’s wedding and reception.

Tammy is a 1975 graduate of West Anchorage High School, and in 2001 earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She owns Whippoorwheel Studio where she creates functional pottery and sculptural ceramics and also works part-time at Papa Bear’s Pizza.

Doug graduated in 1978 from Sitka High School. In 1995 he moved to Petersburg to work for the State of Alaska Department of Transportation where he is still employed. Doug is a volunteer firefighter with the Volunteer Fire Department. In 1998, he started the PVFD’s Search and Rescue team.

The couple met in 2010 in Anchorage when Tammy traveled from Dillingham for training and Doug was on his way back from a hunting trip. They hit it off during their first date at Moose’s Tooth Pizza. Tammy and Doug visited each other’s towns several times before Tammy decided to move to Petersburg so the two could be near each other. The couple married on the one-year anniversary of her move to Petersburg.

The couple will honeymoon in Seattle and Anchorage.
