Happy Birthday to the Sons of Norway

Last year the Sons of Norway Fedrelandet Lodge #23 celebrated their 100th birthday as an organization. This year, the SONs celebrate the 100th year of their hall’s construction.

The amazing thing about the Sons of Norway Hall is that it was built in just three months. That is an incredible feat given the state of construction technology in 1912.

Given the size of the structure, an incredible number of volunteers must have showed up for the work party to get such a project completed in such a short time.

Today, the same can-do attitude prevails within the lodge. A handful of leaders continue to spur-on the membership to a dizzying schedule of community events throughout the year.

The century old building continues to be maintained and enhanced. Dinners are prepared, social events scheduled and a crowd seems to show up all the time.

It’s no small feat for a group of people who already participate on committees, councils and with other civic organizations in town.

We congratulate the Sons of Norway membership and share our appreciation for all you do for the betterment of life in Petersburg.

Here’s to the next 100 years.
