May 31

Christine L. Stewart, 48, appeared before Magistrate Desiree Burrell for driving without a license. Stewart pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 25 days suspended with one year of probation. In lieu of the five days in jail, Stewart may serve 40 hours of Community Work Service to be completed by August 15, 2012. Stewart was also fined a $50 jail surcharge and a $50 police surcharge. In lieu of the surcharges, Stewart may serve 10 additional hours of CWS.

June 5

Levi S. Newman, 24, appeared before Judge William Carey for a change of plea and a petition to revoke probation. Newman plead guilty to attempted theft; driving while drivers license is suspended or revoked and admits to probation violations. For attempted theft, Newman was sentenced to 12 months in jail with six months suspended. For driving while drivers license is suspended or revoked he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and surcharges of $100 and had drivers license revoked concurrent with admin revocation of 90 days. For two probation violations, Newman was sentenced to 170 and 165 days in jail with all jail time to be served consecutively. Newman was given three years probation with no violation of law, no alcohol or controlled substances without valid prescription and is to be evaluated by mental health agency with up to six months in-patient treatment.
