Hospital roof project bid awarded

The bid for the medical center roof replacement base bid and all alternates has been awarded to Silverbow Construction in the amount of $469,600.

Petersburg Hospital Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Woodyard states that the roofing project is considered “high emergency” top priority.

“This project will be funded first in the fiscal year 2013 before funding the other high priority items,” Woodyard said. “Other projects are the pediatric crib, label printers, bladder scan, long term care interior design/remodel, blood bank refrigerator and blood gas analyzer.”

“Phase I of the roofing project was funded by the State of Alaska for $167,648 through a Legislative Capital Grant,” Petersburg Medical Center Board of Directors Chair Tom Abbott stated. “The base bid from Silverbow Construction for Phase I is $118,000 and the alternate 3 bid, which includes a draft stop wall in the attic, is $18,600. Each of these items can be funded fully from the Legislative Capital Grant revenue.”

Construction of the roof project will begin as soon as Silverbow Construction is prepared to begin the work.

“Phase II and alternates, totaling $333,000 could commence once the City of Petersburg has received the executed grant agreement from the State of Alaska,” Abbott said.
