The fourth and final change order for the water and sewer reconstruction project has been approved by the Petersburg City Council.
This change rectifies actual project quantities of various bid items, as well as, the addition of three items not included in the plans but which were deemed necessary by Public Works Director Karl Hagerman.
“The largest overrun on the project was for geotextile separation required in the trench line,” Hagerman stated. “This material was installed to maintain separation between the rock backfill and surrounding muskeg in the utility trenches.”
According to Hagerman, the items added to the project during the work include a six inch water service to commercial properties on Second Street, installation of an additional water main valve on Aaslaug Street to facilitate work on Gauffin Street and the replacement of a 10 inch culvert crossing Second Street prior to paving.
These changes will increase the value of the contract by $40,561.
“This change constitutes the final adjustments to the construction contract,” Hagerman explained. “The contractor is scheduling the completion of a punch list of items following the paving of Odin and Second Streets but there are no additional expenses anticipated.”
