Petersburg Pilot -

UAA Professor of Clarinet, Mark Wolbers, presents a clarinet recital titled “The Long and Short of it,” featuring music for clarinet and the rarely heard BBb contra-bass clarinet. This fun and somewhat informal concert will take place at 7 pm in the Wright Auditorium, Wednesday, September 26.

The performance will feature multiple tonguing and other instrumental gymnastics for regular clarinet on virtuoso works by Arban, Paganini, and Kovacs. Music for the 8 foot-long contra clarinet will include works by Grainger, Muczynski, Fauré, and the work “Deep” by composer Alex Shapiro. This...
