USCG plans Southeast spill exercise

 


JUNEAU (AP) — The Coast Guard will host a southeast Alaska petroleum spill exercise Wednesday at the Ted Ferry Civic Center in Ketchikan.

The exercise will be a tabletop oil spill response based on a scenario of a vessel collision near Sitka.

The Coast Guard says the exercise is designed to test the Southeast Subarea Contingency Plan.

The document was written for the planning of responses to large oil or hazardous substance releases.
