December 8, 1982: Petersburg Cablevision announced recently that they will provide four more channels to their Petersburg system sometime in early 1983. Betty Philbin of the Petersburg Cablevision office said the new channels will be made available to customers over a small auxiliary control box that will sit on top of the television sets. At the present time all 13 channels are used for Cablevision programs in Petersburg.

December 10, 1992: The Petersburg Moose Lodge hoped to win the distinction of being the biggest donor to the Salvation Armys annual Christmas kettle drive by pitching in a whopping $5000 check on Tuesday.

December 5, 2002: The Petersburg Maritime Heritage Foundation, a newly formed group which has grown out of the work to preserve the storied Charles W., is planning to expand its work to collect histories of other noteworthy local boats, says Jeannie Norheim, the group’s chair.

“So many people are interested in the historical backgrounds of a lot of the other boats that are no longer around, family boats,” said Norheim, explaining the expansion of the non – profit group’s original goal. “We’re going to get the histories and backgrounds on them and document them.”
