Borough still seeking people to fill vacancies

The Petersburg Borough is still seeking letters of interest from qualified borough residents to fill two vacancies on the Assembly; three seats on the hospital board and seven positions on the planning and zoning commission until the regular election in October 2014.

Anyone appointed to a vacancy will be required to file a Public Officials Financial Disclosure Statement, POFDS, within 30 days of taking office.

The Borough is also accepting letters from individuals interested in serving on the Land Selection Committee.

“The Borough will receive an estimated 1,700 acres from the State that can be used as the borough determines,” Petersburg Borough Mayor Mark Jensen said.

All letters of interest should be submitted to the Mayor or Clerk no later than 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14 for Assembly consideration at the regular Assembly meeting Feb. 19.

“During this meeting we will also have an interview with interested people seeking appointment to the Assembly,” Jensen said. “This question and answer session will take place to allow the community and the Assembly to become familiar with the candidates to be appointed to the vacancies.”

Existing Assembly members are asked to submit questions that they would like to ask of the candidates to the Clerk no later than 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14 in order for the candidates to have advanced knowledge of the questions to be asked.
