Robin Verline Lane
Robin Verline Lane, 52, passed away February 14, 2013 after a short battle with cancer in Anchorage.
Robin was born on September 12, 1960 to Roger and Judy Johnson at Fort Lewis/McChord Air Force Base. Robin also lived in Kemerer, Wyo. and Mountain Home, Idaho before graduating from Meridian High School of Idaho in 1978.
Robin worked in Student Services at Boise State University for 14 years. It was a great job for Robin as it allowed her to provide her trademark care and service to many people. While still employed by BSU Robin met her eventual husband Bret on New Year’s Eve 1988. Robin and Bret became a pair and married April 30, 1990.
About eight months after being married Bret resigned from his job and went back to school to earn an Electronics degree. That started a twenty year adventure with the Forest Service that saw the Lanes in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and finally Petersburg, Alaska.
Robin loved the travel and seeing new places. She was ready and willing to travel no matter what the destination. Not many people know that Robin hiked up over 10,000 feet many times under her own power, she also rafted rivers, fished, boated, flew and was always open to new experiences. Many good friends were made in the Forest Service.
Robin worked as an office manager for a dentist’s office while living in Steamboat Springs, Colo. In 1996 Robin and Bret moved to Petersburg. The mountains of Colorado were beautiful but Petersburg seemed like home. Eventually Robin found employment with Petersburg Wrangell Insurance where once again she became known for her sincerity, honesty and care for her customers.
In 2003 Robin gave birth to Rose, her treasure. Robin was the most loving, caring, best mother a girl could have. Robin enjoyed any activity that involved Rose. Making Halloween costumes, decorating for the holidays, walking the dog, attending dance recitals or making dog cookies was all great as long as Rose was there.
Robin loved everyone, her heart was the biggest thing about her and there was always room for more. Robin was preceded in death by her father Roger Johnson.
Robin is survived by her husband Bret and daughter Rose; her mother Judy Johnson of Meridian, Idaho; sister and brother in law Chearil and Kelly Johnson of Meridian, Idaho, brother and sister in law Phillip and Evette Johnson of Florida; and numerous nephews and nieces from both sides of the family.
There will be a service Saturday, March 9 at 10:00 A.M. at the Lutheran Church in Petersburg.
