Masons present bicycle to readers

Members of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Alaska visited Petersburg last week to present two students of Stedman Elementary School with bicycles for reaching their accelerated reading goals. (back from left) Deputy Grand Master David Worel, Junior Grand Warden Carl Lindstrom, Petersburg Masonic Lodge Worshipful Master Gerald Lind, Grand Master James Herrington and Senior Grand Warden Doug Teninty. Winners of the bicycle, bicycle lock and helmet were second grade girl Alexus Sakamoro-Quezon and fourth grade boy Miguel Sanches.

Local Masonic leaders, with leaders of the Grand Lodge of Alaska were in attendance to present new bicycles to two elementary students who reached their accelerated reading goal for the trimester.

“These kids have all worked very hard on the accelerated reading goals,” Stedman Elementary School Principal Erica Klundt-Painter said. “We had 80 percent of our students reach their goals for this period.”
