Road Construction continues on Nordic Drive
SECON workers continue the demolition of Nordic Drive in order to install new storm drain pipes and structures. Dowl HKM Project Engineer, Matt McGuan says they are planning to have this portion of Nordic Drive paved by July 4.
Dowl HKM and SECON workers continue to make progress on the Petersburg Road Improvement Project down Nordic Drive.
“We have completed the work on Dolphin Street at the PFI loading dock,” Acting Dowl HKM Project Engineer Eric Voorhees said. “We have also completed installing the concrete pavement on Excel Street east and half of Excel Street west.”
The pavement on Nordic Drive has been removed and workers have begun the installation of storm drain structures and piping.
According to SECON Project Superintendent Bryce Iverson, over the next two weeks, storm drain pipe and structures will be installed on the east side of Nordic Drive.
“The sidewalk at the west end of Trident loading dock will be poured and concrete pavement at the Harbor Way and Excel Street intersection will also be poured,” Iverson said. “Curb and gutter on Nordic Drive between Fram and Excel will be poured as well as the glass seeded blocks between Dolphin and Excel Streets will be installed.”
Removal of the concrete between Gjoa and Fram will be removed at this time as well.
“If the weather holds and we continue with the pace we have, we should have Nordic Drive paved up to Fram by July 4,” Iverson said. “We have been ahead of schedule so far, there is no reason to believe we can't have it finished by then.”
The demolition of Nordic Drive between Gjoa and Fram Streets are on the schedule for the next two weeks and as that happens the paving of Nordic between Excel and Fram Streets will take place.
The next progress meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 in the Petersburg Borough Assembly Chambers.
