Pennies for Patients fundraiser total

To the Editor:

We have just received the grand total from our “Pennies for Patients” fundraising drive this spring, and are pleased to announce that Stedman Elementary students earned $1,240.41 to send to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support ongoing cancer research. Way to go, Stedman Elementary students and the community of Petersburg. A big thanks to the Stedman Elementary student council for organizing this important fundraising activity in our school.

Concerned Citizens

To the Editor:

Why are we not listened to at state government?

The Governor's decision to spray pesticides on our roadsides is much against our knowledge and will. We know that these pesticides will drain into our waters. After all, our southeast Alaska is a beautiful rainforest. So he doesn't care about our fish streams and waterways or even the browse our wildlife dines on?

How stupid. It causes you to wonder how much the pesticide companies paid him, or even if he cares about the men who have to handle the poisons and endure the drift from them.

Senior Senior Prom was great

To the Editor:

I wanted to say thank you to Mental Health again for a wonderful time at the Senior Senior Prom.

The staff really goes out of their way to make sure everyone enjoys themselves and especially the “wheelchair dancers”.

We just want them to know how much we appreciate all of their effort as well as the Coasties who came with us and other volunteers.

I love my wrist corsage and am still showing it off.
