Library construction continues. The outside of the building is completely finished with the exception of the grading and paving of a few sidewalks. The inside will be punch list ready by July 15. The ceiling and beams have been sanded, stained and varnished and tile has been laid in the entry. The building will be ready for move in by Aug. 1.

The new Petersburg Public Library construction work is entering its final chapter.

“Work on the building is going as scheduled,” Petersburg Borough Construction Administrator Dan LaForce stated. “Everything should be finished by mid July.”

All work on the inside of the building is scheduled to be completed by July 15.

“At this time we can finish up any punch items that need to be taken care of before everything starts being moved in,” LaForce said. “We want to make sure there are no problems that need to take place while the move is happening.”

A portion of the ceiling in the children's area has been equipped with recessed lighting that changes colors and the whole building has LED lighting installed.

“This will be a very efficient building,” LaForce said. “There are very few fixtures in the facility that aren't LED.”

The tile in the front entrance has been installed and the fireplace stands ready for use.

According to LaForce, the remainder of the outside concrete work will be completed in the next couple of weeks and that will allow for the finishing touches on the outside of the building.

“A lot of work has gone into this facility,” LaForce said. “This building will be a place for the whole community to enjoy.”
