“The highlight was Evan Marsh beating the defending state champion from Sitka in the 100 backstroke,” said Coach Carlisle.

Louis Belley from Sitka finished almost two seconds slower than Marsh’s impressive time of 54.51 seconds. Vince Kowalski took third in that event as well.

Seniors Shania Dahlberg, Abigail Taylor, and Vince Kowalski were celebrated during Friday night’s Senior Appreciation.

The last event of the night was the hard fought 400-yard freestyle relay, with Abel Aulbach, Skipper Erickson, Vincent Kowalski and Evan Marsh swimming for the Vikings. Sitka’s team was a few lengths ahead when Aulbach got in the water, third. The pool was a roar of cheers as he made up the distance. Marsh finished the job, pulling ahead by a hair to pull off a first place finish, as Petersburg supporters went crazy.

Friday night was also Senior Appreciation for the Vikings. Teammates, family and friends showed their support for Shania Dahlberg, Abigail Taylor, and Vince Kowalski.

“On Saturday morning the energy was a little less but we still raced really well, with some exciting relays. I am feeling pretty confident going into the region meet,” said Carlisle.

Saturday highlights included top finishes by Kowalski in the 50-Free and Marsh in the 100-Fly, as well as wins for the boys in the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relays.
