Darrel Gene Kummert, 65, passed away at his home in Peter's Creek, Alaska on December 9, 2013. He was laid to rest in Petersburg, Alaska.

Darrel was born on August 5, 1948 in Olympia, Wash. He was in the Navy beginning in 1966, which moved him to Peter's Creek in August of 1948. After his retirement from the Navy in 1969 Darrel worked for the Department of Transportation from October 19, 1976 until November 27, 2004.

He enjoyed NASCAR, four wheeling, snow machining, camping, fishing, taking drives, BBQ's and music. His family wrote: "Darrel was a loving husband who cherished his wife Danalyn and family, he gave his love in his own special way to all."

Darrel is survived by his wife Danalyn Kummert; his uncle Don Adson; and aunt Dolores (Aunt Babe) Piehlers.
