After nearly 14 years on the school board (with a 20 year break in-between), President Jean Ellis has resigned.

Ellis said her term was originally supposed to be up in 2014, but that she “drew the long straw” when Petersburg became a borough. Her term extended to 2016.

There’s always something going on in the school district, she added, pointing to issues like the funding ones Petersburg is facing now.

Ellis noted that it was just time to step down.

“It’s a great community,” she added.

She’ll be spending her time enjoying it and spending time with her grandkids.
