Viking wrestlers face tough competition at first tourney

 


The Petersburg High School wrestling team traveled to Wrangell for the Tom Sims Invitational last weekend. It was the first tournament of the season for the team and they came away with a ninth place finish in the event.

Junior Buddy Stelmach got his season off to an impressive start, going undefeated in three matches on his way to a first place finish in the 126-pound division. Stelmach pinned his first opponent in three minutes, and won his second match with a pin in 47 seconds. He then faced Cameron Bauer from Haines in the championship round, and ended up winning by an 8-2 decision. He...
