Learning mental toughness on the mats

Last year, the Mitkof Middle School wrestling team came in second at regions behind Ketchikan. Earlier this season, Petersburg won the Craig Tournament, beating Ketchikan by half a point, even without a full roster.

Regions is this weekend for the Vikings, and beating Ketchikan in their home gym would really cement lessons the young wrestlers are learning on the mats.

"Our main goal right now is to just stay together and be focused," head coach Mike Corl says. "It's very possible that this year could be the year we beat Ketchikan for the first time in 10 years at Regions."
