MMS hosts first cross country meet

Mitkof Middle School cross country hosted the first meet in the young history of the program last Saturday with a sizable squad from Ketchikan. The cross country program started as a club and became an official sport a couple years ago, according to coach Joe Viechnicki.

"Last week we ran in Ketchikan and this week we were really excited to have a meet here," he says. "Really proud of the kids, they did a great job."

The team trained on the course for weeks leading up to the meet, running three
