New bird in town

A Lewis's Woodpecker arrived two weeks ago on the tail of the storm winds. At least eight people have come to town to see the bird and many local people have been checking it out also, because it's the first recorded sighting in Alaska. The University of Alaska Museum Checklist Committee will determine if the bird should be incorporated into the Alaska state checklist of species.
