Earned not won

To the Editor:

Your reporter stated that the Girl Scout gold award is a prize to be “won.” It is not. It is earned through hard work. It takes many hours to complete the task. I have 2 daughters who are both recipients of the award, and both worked very hard to meet the requirements. You should not trivialize the effort put in by these young ladies..it’s not a participation trophy given to everyone.
