On July 4, someone approached the Petersburg Public Library and punched the side of the building, which caused some of the paneling to break. The Petersburg Police Department posted a video of the incident on its Facebook page, asking the public to help identify the individual. Off-duty at the time, Police Chief James Kerr said he saw the individual before the crime was committed and remembers his face. It is just a matter of time before he sees the individual around town again, Kerr said.
