Manager applicant fired

over wife’s prior career

An applicant for the city manager’s vacancy in Petersburg has been in the news often since he was fired from his position as town manager of Fort Myers Beach, Florida in July 2009.

The town council and mayor fired William Scott Janke without cause during an emergency meeting after a discovery that his wife, Anabela Mota Janke, aka Jezella Moore was a porn star.

In his questionnaire, which was completed by all five finalist candidates for the Petersburg position, wrote, “I left the Town of Fort Myers Beach for reasons that to this day I don’t understand. The Town Council there simply over-reacted to a news story about my wife’s previous career and they terminated my contract without cause. I’m sure you have heard the stories.”

According to news reports everyone including the mayor says he did a great job, but they fired him claiming he was a distraction.
