Hunter VonWeller does the one-foot high kick during Junior Native Youth Olympics practice on Tuesday. Seventeen Petersburg School District students are currently participating in the sport and will compete virtually in the Native Alaska games with other students in the state. The one-foot high kick was used by Alaskan Natives to signal a successful hunt and a two-foot high kick signified the opposite.
