People gathered at Buschmann Park on September 30 for Orange Shirt Day which raises awareness of the history and impact of residential schools. The date was chosen because it was historically the time of year when children were taken from their homes to go to residential schools according to the Orange Shirt Society. The event was sponsored by the Petersburg Indigenous Awareness Committee.
