This composite image combines multiple photographs taken during Monday night's total lunar eclipse. In a lunar eclipse the sun, Earth, and moon align, and as the moon passes through Earth's shadow it glows coppery red as the only sunlight reaching it filters through Earth's atmosphere. The red glow, when the eclipse has reached totality, lasts for around an hour and a half, so sky gazers needed to bundle up for prolonged cold to fully experience this eclipse. The next total lunar eclipse will occur on March 14, 2025.
