The Blaquiere Point Road Weather Information Station operated by the Alaska Dept. of Transportation and Public Facilities generates both images and weather information for public access via a variety of communications methods including the internet. The station shows views of the launch ramp and a view of the Stikine River tide flats (bottom image). Another station operates near Banana Point at Mile 27.4 of the Mitkof Highway. A view of the Middle Arm tide flats is shown as posted on Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. ADOTPF uses the information to schedule road maintenance as well as to provide the public with a view of weather and roadway conditions at its two Mitkof Island locations.
