A new event, Guns & Hoses, was part of this year's Little Norway Festival street competitions. Volunteer firefighters and law enforcement officers raced to pull two fire trucks down Nordic Drive. Law enforcement (guns) won the race, pulling their 34,000-pound truck across the finish line first. Fire Department spokesperson Dave Berg said he should have run across the street and picked up a couple boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts to distract the officers and perhaps the firefighters would have won. He also noted, "They're paid, we're volunteers."
