Reversing Wrangell’s fortunes last year, the Ray Pederson Memorial Ryder Cup returned to Petersburg this weekend after its golfers edged out locals in a 5-4 win. Due to expected weather conditions Sunday, the usually two-day annual tournament was condensed down to cover Saturday. With nine participants from each community on hand, teams were made parties of three rather than the usual two, which Muskeg Meadows course manager Bill Messmer said worked out pretty well. Petersburg Indian Association received a letter of support for the possible development of a trail from the Seversen Subdivision to Haugen Drive adjacent to the Fire Hall. Petersburg Medical Center board of directors received good news about its investment accounts for the past 12-months. PMC’s investment account grew from $2,755,902 to $2,962,311 in the 12-months ending March 31, 2017. The $206,408 in earnings showed a 7.5% growth for the account. The PMC Foundation account showed improvement of 6.1%. The March 31, 2016 fund grew from $203,702 to $216,042 a year later — a $12,340 increase.
