August 12, 1916 – The submersible wrecking scows to be used in raising the Northland arrived in port Thursday evening, and, after taking on a pilot, continued on to Kake. Pendergast, who is to have charge of the work, accompanied by James Joyce, arrived Thursday from Juneau. The 30 percent design documents for the Emergency Stand-by Generator (350 kw) replacement have been received from the vendor. At Crystal Lake, we intend to replace the old “bubbler” lake level indicator system with a new electronic transducer, and add a new air temperature sensor – weather permitting.
