A bridge just outside of Petersburg city limits will be renamed in remembrance of Donald “Harry” Kito who perished while serving his country 45 years ago. Over 70 golfers and friends turned out Saturday morning to participate in the Wrangell Medical Center Foundation’s Rally for Cancer Care. Marta Elise Skrøvseth Havdal, niece of Norwegian artist Kalla Skrøvseth, arrived in Petersburg with one goal in mind, to find as many of Skrøvseth's paintings as possible. “We have about 300 of her paintings in the gallery in Norway,” Havdal said. “But she has paintings all over the world, we are hoping to photograph any that we find here in Petersburg.” A Centennial Celebration of Skrøvseth's work will be held in Norway, November of 2013 and she is hoping to collect more pieces for the gallery....

Marlena Erickson returned from a life-changing trip to Sweden last Tuesday. Erickson spent more than 11 months in Hudisvall, Sweden, which is approximately two hours north of Stockholm, as a foreign exchange student through the Petersburg Rotary Club. “I still feel like I’m in a dream,” Erickson said. “It was such an amazing experience.” Erickson explained that she was able to take a three week tour of Europe while she was there as well.
