On Oct. 25, AST was notified by the Phoenix Logging camp on Prince of Wales Island that Brian Stanton (64 of Ketchikan) was deceased do to a gunshot. It was reported that they were at Keete Inlet approximately 15 air miles from Hydaburg on Prince of Wales Island. Investigation revealed Timothy Murphy (26 of Ketchikan) had confessed to shooting Stanton and had made multiple incriminating statements to employees of the logging camp. On Aug. 19, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island were notified of a motor vehicle collision which occurred in Coffman Cove near Luck Lake. Details revealed that 32 year old Robert Hull of Craig lost control of his vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup while traveling south on Forest Service Road 3030. The crash caused significant damage to Hull’s pickup as well as his 2016 Honda ATV which was in the bed of the truck. Investigation into the crash is continuing. On Aug. 6 at about 10:10 p.m., the Juneau based Alaska State Troopers (AST) were contacted by the Juneau Police Department, who reported that Sarah Skrine, age 46 of Juneau, was stuck on a cliff off of the West Glacier Trail. AST contacted Capital City Fire Rescue (CCFR), who responded with their rope team and rescue boat. On July 22, Prince of Wales based Troopers were notified of an apparent trespass/theft in progress on Port Saint Nicholas Road. A resident contacted troopers after she observed a male being dropped off by another individual driving a white truck. That male then appeared to be stealing items from a vehicle belonging to her neighbor. The male fled into the woods when confronted by the resident.
