Young talent continues holiday dance tradition

The last of Mother Ginger's kids hurries back under her skirt after the Gingerbread dance during Friday night's performance of The Nutcracker presented by Mitkof Dance Troupe in Wright Auditorium.

The Mitkof Dance Troupe (MDT) put on three performances of The Nutcracker to packed houses in Wright Auditorium last weekend.

Some 141 dancers from toddlers to teens danced in the show, which has become an every-other-year holiday tradition in Petersburg.

"I think we've been doing it for 16 years now, every other year," said Mindy Anderson, a part-time teacher with MDT.
