PHS students get artful in Wrangell

David Galationkoff, JoeC Randolph, Sydney Guthrie, teacher Ashley Lohr, Tayla Wilson, Julia Murph, and Gus Petersen attended Artfest in Wrangell last weekend. Students had the chance to participate in two of 15 different workshops, spending about 30 hours working on art over the course of the four-day event.

Six Petersburg High School students travelled to Wrangell to participate in Artfest last week, and three students earned "Best of Workshop" awards. Julia Murph took home the honor for jewelry making, Tayla Wilson for copper etching and David Galaktionoff for spoon carving. Sydney Guthrie earned an honorable mention for her pottery work and Murph earned the same title for leather mask making. Joec Randoph and Gus Petersen also attended.

Over the four-day event, a combination of visiting and local artists taught 15 different classes at various locations around town, and students were immersed...
