Petersburg Police arrested Brittany Martin, 22, Tuesday, Oct. 6 in connection with an April 9 burglary at the Beach Bum Tanning Salon.

According to police, cash and other valuables were taken during the burglary with a total loss estimated at more than $800.

The arrest comes after physical evidence was analyzed at a crime lab after the burglary last spring. The lab sent the results to local police Oct. 6.

"Based on those results, police believed there was probable cause to arrest Martin and petitioned the court for an arrest warrant," a police press release states.

Deputy Magistrate Boggs issued an arrest warrant for Martin on charges of Burglary in the 2nd degree and Theft in the 2nd degree, both felony crimes, and set bail at $25,000. Martin was brought in that afternoon and was appointed counsel. The court reduced bail to $1,000 with other conditions of release and a preliminary hearing was set.

Martin was also arrested and charged with Burglary last April after being identified in video surveillance of a residential burglary last February. She later pled guilty to amended charges of Criminal Trespassing and Theft.
