Letter from the Mayor

It is with a heavy heart that I make this statement. The Petersburg Borough sends heartfelt

condolences to the Giesbrecht and Parks families for the loss of their daughters. Petersburg will truly miss their presence. Our thoughts are also with the Cardenas and Allen families and all those in our community that are affected by this tragedy. It is our hope that with the support of our caring community we can all come together to help each other in the healing process. In the interim, I have appointed Karl Hagerman as Acting Borough Manager to fill in for Steve Giesbrecht as needed.

The Alaska State Troopers are arriving in

Petersburg today to perform an investigation of the accident. Any information, news releases, etc. will be made public by the State Troopers.

This tragedy leaves us with a loss of words.

We look to Petersburg to put its arms around us all.

Mark Jensen

Petersburg Borough Mayor
