November 11, 1916 – “Gee, but Sunday was an ideal day for ducks!” It wasn't a duck that emitted the exclamation, however, but one of a party of eight who spent the day hunting somewhere in the vicinity of Thomas Bay. They made the trip on Captain Grindrod's launch Lark. It is said that over a thousand shells were emptied by the party. Although C. H. Pautzke didn't make as much noise as some of the others, when the returns were computed it was found that he led with a limit of 25 ducks.
