Rotary Club top Salvation Army bell-ringers

The Petersburg Rotary Club has again brought in the most Red Kettle donations during the 2016 Christmas season.

Rotary collections totaled $4,979.32. Petersburg Vessel Owners Association collected $2,655.54 and Sons of Norway rang-in $1,162.82. Red Kettles stationed at store checkout counters brought in $830.73 for a total of $13,643.79 for the annual event.

Businesses, organizations and individuals all manned the downtown kettle on behalf of the Salvation Army.

Donations were down by $1,553.63 from last year, according to Lts. Mysti and John Birks and $17,000 under the amount budgeted tow...
