Tanner crab season kicks off Friday

Tanner crab estimates are down from the previous season although there is enough to go around for a successful fishery.

Mature male Tanner abundance estimate is 4.9 million pounds, down from the 5.6 million estimate from the previous year, according to a Alaska Department of Fish and Game press release.
