Representing the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Dept., Captain Ryan Welde and Lieutenant Dan Bird ring the Salvation Army bell in front of Hammer and Wikan Hardware store on Saturday.

Red Kettle donations to the Salvation Army increased by $4,000 compared to last year's contributions.

Loni Upshaw with the Salvation Army in Petersburg reported Christmas season donations totaled $17,511.29 compared to $13,643.79 in 2016.

For the fourth year in a row, the Petersburg Rotary Club rang in the top prize with contributions totaling $5,060.35.

The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Dept. brought in $2,272.65 for second place and the Salvation Army Advisory Board gathered $2,150 on their days of bell ringing.
