The borough's crane truck transporting this year's community Christmas tree. The crane truck was purchased in December of 2003 for $97,900 after the previous crane truck had been evaluated by the Motor Pool and determined to be at the end of its service, according to public works director Chris Cotta. The current crane truck has a 20-year projected service life and is not scheduled to be replaced until the 2024 fiscal year. Money for the crane truck came from a replacement account within the Motor Pool fund set up specifically for the truck. Although the truck isn't used daily, it still is used frequently in tasks, such as bridge repairs, picking up and moving heavy freight, trimming and falling trees, building maintenance, festival set-ups and other vital borough projects that involve lifting and moving heavy objects, according to Cotta.
