Swim Club takes second place at SE Championships

Abby Worhatch, left, and Peter Joekay of the Viking Swim Club with their trophies after competing in Juneau at the Southeast Championships over the weekend. Worhatch competed in the girls 9-10 age group and took first place in the 50 yard freestyle, second in the 100 yard butterfly and the 50 yard breaststroke and third in the 100 yard freestyle. Joekay competed in the boys 9-10 age group and took first place in the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard freestyle, second in the 200 yard IM and 100 yard butterfly and third in the 500 yard freestyle.

The Viking Swim Club scored second place in Juneau this past weekend at the 2019 Southeast Championships behind the Glacier Swim Club of Juneau which has 10 times as many swimmers as Petersburg.

Brooklyn Whitethorn, Olivia Hinde, Lexie Tow and Abby Worhatch competed in the 200 yard freestyle relay in the 10 and under age group and came in first place. The group went on to come in second place in the 200 yard medley relay.

On the boys side, Jonas Baekkelund, Noah Pawuk, Logan Tow and Logan Haley competed in the open relay and took first place in the 200 yard medley and second in the 200 yard...
