The Petersburg Medical Center hosted their sixth annual Paddle Battle on Saturday. The race began at Papke's Landing and ended at Sandy Beach Park. Troy Larson was the first to reach Sandy Beach Park at 2.5 hours. There were 26 participants raising money for the Petersburg Medical Center Foundation, but since the foundation is still receiving donations, the amount raised over the weekend is unknown, said PMC Public Relations Coordinator Kelsey Lambe. The funds will go towards helping PMC staff further their education. Marlene Cushing (foreground) paddles her way up the Narrows towards Sandy Beach.
