Former NBA player teaches students to understand each other

Former NBA player Damon Bell-Holter speaks to fifth through eighth graders at an assembly last week about the importance of communication between siblings, parents and classmates.

Damon Bell-Holter, formerly of the Boston Celtics, was in Petersburg last week to empower the students in the Petersburg District by promoting leadership and communication. 

Bell-Holter spent three days meeting with students during their physical education classes and lunch periods. On Oct. 25, Bell-Holter held an assembly for the students in fifth through eighth grade. He spoke about a need for the students to reach out to each other to understand what the other is going through and why they do the things they do, before immediately judging them.
