Former NBA player teaches students to understand each other

Former NBA player Damon Bell-Holter speaks to fifth through eighth graders at an assembly last week about the importance of communication between siblings, parents and classmates.

Damon Bell-Holter, formerly of the Boston Celtics, was in Petersburg last week to empower the students in the Petersburg District by promoting leadership and communication. 

Bell-Holter spent three days meeting with students during their physical education classes and lunch periods. On Oct. 25, Bell-Holter held an assembly for the students in fifth through eighth grade. He spoke about a need for the students to reach out to each other to understand what the other is going through and why they do the things they do, before immediately judging them. He used a story about his younger brother...
