Petersburg sets new record for wettest summer

This summer's wet weather set a record for the most summer rainfall ever in Petersburg with 31.6 inches of rain, just barely surpassing the previous record of 31.06 inches of rain in the summer of 2015, according to data from the National Weather Service in Juneau.

NWS measures summer rainfall from June 1 through August 31. In June, Petersburg saw 8.15 inches of rain. July had 8.33 inches of rain. August saw another record shattered when 15.12 inches of rain fell in Petersburg, the fourth highest amount of rain on record for the month. The wettest August on record was in 2011 with 17.54 inches...
