Active cases reach 52 Thursday afternoon

The chart above lists the current outbreak's cumulative COVID-19 case count as of 3:45 P.M. on Thursday. Note that totals have changed for Feb. 21, 22, 23 and 24.

The total active COVID-19 case count for Petersburg has reached 52 as of Thursday afternoon, according to a joint press release from the Petersburg Borough and Petersburg Medical Center.

Six new cases were reported on Thursday, but additional positive cases have been added to the overall case count for Petersburg dating back to Sunday, Feb. 21. Petersburg has now reported 52 positive cases of COVID-19, up from the 46 active cases last reported by the EOC in a press release Wednesday evening.

All infected individuals are being directed to isolate themselves, and public health officials are reaching out to close contacts.

Of the 52 active cases, one of the infected individuals is fully vaccinated, three are partially vaccinated, three have been hospitalized and one has been medivaced out of town for a higher level of care, according to data from PMC.

Moving forward, the EOC will be releasing press releases regarding the ongoing local outbreak in the afternoons between 4 and 6 P.M. The borough's COVID-19 Dashboard will be updated twice a day, with the active case count being updated in the evenings and testing and vaccine numbers in the mornings.
