The advocate to the Bureau of Education

November 4, 2021

This photo is of John Lott, probably taken in the 1930s. John came to Petersburg after 1910 to work in the canneries and had a cabin down by the harbor. He and his wife were advocates to the Bureau of Education for a school for Native children in town. Sadly, his wife and son Carl were found drowned within a couple weeks of one another in the 1940s.

Photo from Alyce Thomassen's scrapbooks and loaned courtesy of Troy Thomassen.
