Scott Allen Hurtt was born on August 29, 1955 in Weston, Wyoming. He was one of seven children born to Frank and Janice Hurtt. He spent most of his childhood growing up in Casper, Wyoming. He grew up having a huge love for animals and enjoyed playing baseball. He graduated in 1973 and then moved to Montana in the late 1980s.

In the 1990s, Scott moved up to rural Alaska to work remotely setting up and working in grocery stores. He loved learning the different cultures, communities, and getting to know so many people across the state. He eventually settled in Petersburg, Alaska where he met the love of his life, Carolyn Hurtt and married her on March 19, 1999. They spent many years working together and helping run the 4th of July events.

In 2003 Scott, Carolyn, Mandie, and Luke decided to buy a local pizzeria restaurant, now known as Papa Bears Pizza. His legacy of being 'Papa Bear' was one of his proudest accomplishments in life. He loved to volunteer, help with fundraisers, and be there for the community in any way he could when he wasn't working. Scott would be putting together family dinners, birthdays, and really fun surprises for all his grandkids. He absolutely loved being able to find a new toy for them to try or fireworks to blow up. His grandkids kept him young and full of life.

Scott and Carolyn spent much of their later years doing what they loved, cruising. Scott fell in love with cruising back on their 'familymoon' after they got married. They spent most of their time planning for vacations together and meeting new friends along the way.

Scott Hurtt left his heart in Petersburg, Alaska on April 27, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Janice Hurtt of Casper, Wyoming. He is survived by the love of his life Carolyn Hurtt, kids, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. He touched so many lives and made the world a better place. His dedication throughout his life to our community and his family are immeasurable.

Honoring Scott's wishes, his memorial service will be a small family gathering. The family wants to thank everyone for your prayers, cards, flowers, plants, hugs, visits, and especially all the outpouring of love.
